Freedom to Succeed Tour: David Jay and Jasmine Star

On Tuesday, I had the honor to meet and talk to 2 photographers that I admire and respect so much. Not only for their photographer skills, but how they approach life. We all want to be free of something. Whether it be your job or current situation. And these photographers are a great example of how to "Get Free" (Ha, DJ I used you slogan).

David Jay and Jasmine Star came to Houston to teach other photographers how to become Great. And by Great, I mean to be Great in everything we do. Especially, being Great friends to others and helping them succeed. To be Great, not perfect. Nobody is perfect, so why try killing yourself to be perfect. Just be Great.

When they first walked it, it seemed so unreal. I did not think I would ever talk to them, but David Jay walked straight up to me. I believe I was the first one he talked to. All I can say is "WOW". Talk about a shocker. We talked about soccer (I still play), fashion, and of course photography. But, his eyes lit up when I said fashion. And we kept talking about it, because I try an incorporate fashion in everything I do. I believe it is the future for wedding photography. It was great. We had a few things in common.

Then later on that night, I met and talked to Jasmine. She was everything I imagined. Charming, powerful, sweet, and mostly energetic. Very energetic. What got me was her story. How she got started? It all steamed back to her mother, who had cancer. (Sound familiar................My mother died of cancer.) We started shooting with similar reasons. So, I had something in common with Jasmine, too. WOW!!

To sum it up, they gave me inspiration and additional confidence, that some day I will be like them.

Any who, here are a couple of pics.

Don't I look like I have a Joker smile. Geez, I have to work on that. Ha....

And my cheesy face. No wonder I stay behind the camera.

Also, I had the opportunity to meet other Texas Photographers. And they taught me a few things. These girls are great. You better watch out for them.

Sarah Shalley
- She took the pics of me with DJ and Jasmine. Thanks Sarah.
Brandi Tejada - Good friend of Sarah's.
Amanda Key - We talked for a while. She is a great senior portrait photographer from Liberty, TX.

NEW WEBSITE IS NOW LIVE!!

Everyone, I have completed my new website and yesterday I went LIVE with it. There are a few things that need a little fixing (Fashion section, The Stories page and Music), but for the most part it's done.
I hope you like it and let me know if you see anything wierd happening.

Light Writer Photography

Also, I'm in the process of add a "Client Lounge". This will be a section specifically for my clients. So, instead of creating and hosting a website yourself. I will help you design it and host it.
Now, how cool is that?

Great Places of the World #1

Above: Iconic Stone Figures

I find this place very mysterious and full of life. As the name suggests, "Navel (or Center) of the World". With the statues representing a divine being flowing through the island.

Hopefully, one day I'll get a chance to visit this remote place and learn about the energy and history that it possesses.

Excerpt from "1,000 Places to See Before You Die" by Patricia Schultz

'Surrounded by a million square miles of Pacific Ocean, it's the world's most remote inhabited island - over 1,200 miles from its nearest populated neighbor, Pitcairn Island. Called the "Navel of the World" by early settlers, Easter Island is an ancient open-air 50 square-mile museum of natural history, home to some of archaeology's most valuable treasures. '

1,000 Places To See Before You Die

Yesterday, my wife bought me a book (1,000 Places To See Before You Die by Patricia Schultz)
for our anniversary. And being a man that likes to travel, I must say, that she choose the right book. I have skimmed through it, and although it mostly talks about the luxury 5-star hotels available at various destinations (which I'll probably never go to...at least, not right now). It does show places that I would have never thought to go to.

So, in the coming months, I'm going to post a different destination every week. I'll try and stay away from the most popular cities, such as, Paris, London, New York, etc. So, look out for these posts and share the great places you have been.

Kalyn & Justin Engagement

Great Couple. Great Location. Great Sunset.

This was a great shoot. And I love the sunset shots over Lake Conroe. Let me say it again. "I LOVE THE SUNSET SHOTS." In fact, I wish I could have taken more, but we only had a 15-20 min window to take the shots. So, I was rushing some of them. But, they all turned out great. Also, their daughter is a charmer. She loves the camera and the camera loves her.

Toni & Lance Engagement

I had soooo much fun with this couple. If this is any indication of how the wedding will be, I think I better start getting some sleep now. This couple is like the "Energizer Bunny", they keep going, and going, and going, and going.............
They are planning a destination wedding next year either in Mexico or the Caribbean. Oh, how I can not wait til then. If fact, this is just Round One of the engagement session. The next one will be even crazier. This will be a fun ride!!

New Website Preview

As I promised, here is a sneak peak of my new website. I'm not totally done, but I thought I would get some input from my great fan base. Let me know if you have any suggestions and/or comments.

I should be finished with the site by the end of the summer.
But, as you can see, I'm adding full blown images, viewable at full screen. I'm so excited about this website. It's gonna add a whole new dimension to my business.
