I remember the '04 election, where my wife and I waited more than an hour to vote, because the line was out the door. Also, I remember that we waited 3 hours to cast our vote for the 2008 primaries, but decided to leave because it was unorganized and the venue was too small. (They tried to fit nearly 400 people into a small public library. And it wasn't the whole library. It was the meeting room, that could only hold 50 people. You might have seen it on the news.)
But, this time, I wasn't going risk it. This is a historic election, and I encourage.....wait....I strongly encourage everyone to get out and vote. And
VOTE EARLY!! I almost guarantee that the wait on Nov 4 to vote will be 2-3 times as long as the last election. And that will force a lot of people into the decision to not vote. Which is wrong? Remember, people were killed, beaten, sprayed with hoses, bitten by dogs, and jailed to get the right to vote. So, if it takes you 2 days to vote, then you should wait. But, that is the reason why you should vote early, so you don't have to go through that.
But, today, I took time out of my lunch schedule to vote. And guess what, it
only took 5 minutes. Yes, I said that correctly, 5 minutes. I was a bit surprised, but super happy. I was also proud of my self in a patriotic way. There is nothing like voting for something that you believe will change the face of America, and provide you with greater opportunity than you have now.
So, once again, get out and vote and
VOTE EARLY. And for those who live in West Houston, go to George Bush park to vote. It's quick and easy.
